A Date with A Unicorn Pt 4: The Second Date

I was positively giddy waiting for 7 pm to arrive so I could meet Mr. Unicorn for our Friday night date. I got absolutely nothing done all day and must have played Sugarland's "Stuck Like Glue" on my Ipod over and over and over again as I held my cheek in my hand staring off into space. No doubt about it, I was completely smitten and in the process setting myself up for a potentially huge fall.

No one that can make me feel so good. There you go makin' my heart beat again, heart beat again, heart beat again...

Mr. Unicorn took me to the Spy Museum. He was waiting outside for me in his long overcoat, scarf and Irish derby hat, looking cool yet sophisticated and still also young all at once. (People that "hip" never cease to amaze me.)

There you go pullin me right back in, right back in and I know-uh-oh, I'm never letting this go-uh-oh. I'm Stuck on You. What oh whah oh Stuck Like Glue You and Me Baby Stuck like Glue.

We went inside and got our tix. Shit that museum is expensive. But he paid. Of course. Because apparently unicorn men are generous like that. We were doing "Spy at Night," an hour long, group, interactive spy adventure. The group is briefed on a fake undercover ops mission involving a missing nuclear device then giving tasks like video surveillance, searching an office for clues and interrogating a potential double agent. It is FABULOUS. And even though its probably the most expensive museum in all of Washington, D.C. its worth. every. single. penny. (Which I know is hard to believe coming from the girl who didn't spend a penny, but I promise. It was. Even I would've forked out the $20 for a ticket).

Whah oh whah oh whah oh. You and me baby we're stuck like Glue.

Not only does an interactive date at the Spy Museum give you something to DO on a date and then talk about at length and in detail later but its a unique experience that requires team work, imagination and thinking on your toes. I definitely felt like Mr. Unicorn and I got to see how well we worked together on difficult tasks, "under pressure." We also got to see how we handled unusual situations where we were asked to perform on the spot. We both had a good sense of humour about ourselves and were playful enough to actually take on the characters of the spies, ducking behind pillars and pretending to be frightened of the incoming rebels. It was child's play for adults.

There you go makin me feel like a kid. Won't you do it, do it one time...

When the mission was concluded, (our team got 4 stars out of 5 - I'll take it), we headed out to the lobby where our tickets afforded us one free drink. They had a special "White Russian" cocktail featured so we got those and hit a booth and just like our previous interactions the conversation just flowed. We'd both had tough weeks at work and even though that might seem like the least favorable topic to discuss on a supposed-to-be light, non-serious Friday night, fun date, it felt good to tell this person what was going on in my life. Like him knowing what I was going through and smiling and nodding could make it less of a burden. He had had a weird week to because he's been offered an interview for a really great job without even applying for it. He was happy with his current firm, colleagues, and pay but had been there for several years now and thought it might be challenging, stimulating and worthwhile to go do something different. He was conflicted about what would necessarily be a life changing decision. To choose one path over another. I discussed the pros and cons with him and tried to be as supportive and helpful as I could but ultimately knew he would have to decide on his own and all I could say was that I was sure whatever he decided would work out great.

You give me that look. You do that thing that makes me laugh. And just like that...

I had no concept of time or space or the other people in the museum and would likely have sat in that booth all night talking to Mr. Unicorn, but he glanced over at his watch and said: "Oh- we gotta go!" "Gotta go where, I said?" "Gotta go to dinner," he said. "So you already know where we're going to dinner?" "Of course I do...I even made a reservation. How do you like that?" (Let's just say I liked it very much).

Whah oh whah oh Stuck Like Glue You and me together say its all I wanna do.

I told him: "I must admit, I sure do love a man with a plan." To which he replied: "Well then it's a very good thing you're gonna fall in love with me."

To be continued...

Whoaaa!! What a date! I wish I lived in DC right now because that sounds like SO MUCH FUN!! I always secretly wanted to be an FBI agent (hahaha).

I'm very impressed with the way he plans out these dates and really takes the time and effort to make reservations etc. I have this rule about men and that if they want to date you they'll put in the effort to date you- and he sure is doing it... all out! Good for you girl!

Who knows, maybe you will fall in love. Maybe this is the real deal. I hope so. :)

Oh Washingtina- don't get your panties in a twist. There is sooo much to write. And it is time consuming! And I also want to avoid thousand page long blogs that no one will ever possibly read. That said, I'm determined that as soon as I get a sufficient amt of comments on one post that I'll post the next one, even if I get enough comments within the same day or same hour. So retweet my posts for me thanks!

KellyAlysia-I dont know whether he actually said it or whether thats what I heard in my head. The world may never know. He is pretty dreamy and he is doing everything right like the movies, but ultimately the perfect will have to become the good and that will have to be enough. I'm just hoping we get to that stage and it still feels right.

Single much- I promise that if things work out with this guy that I'll do everything in my power to set up all my single friends with the men of their dreams to Pay it Forward. Promise.

Quarterforherthoughts- thanks for your continued thoughts. Anyone reading this should check Quarter out on her blog and follow her on twitter as @IntrigueMe. She's a fabulous twitter/blog friend as are all these commenting ladies. I agree that the planning is what is so impressive and enjoyable. That I was worth all of this effort and our dates have been picture perfect as a result. As for falling in love and this being the real deal. If it is...I'm the luckiest girl in the world. Too soon to tell though.

STAY TUNED AND CHEERS! -T

yay Andy! You will love it. Just have fun with it and keep an open mind. "Ducking" when they actually say "Duck" is essential too.

The Spy Museum, in my opinion, is a great date activity and a top museum in DC. However, it is probably the most exoensive. Therefore, while I truly believe its worth the money, if you are tight on cash Museum of Natural History and National Art and Hirshhorn are pretty fab too. Thanks for commenting J! -T
